Ganga is the holy reaver for the hindu. Gangotri is the place from where the holy Ganga comes on the earth. Gangotri is located in Uttrakhand. The distance for haridwar to Gangotri is 300(approximately). It located at 3,048 m above sea level. It is situated at the Himalayan’s peak. Many peoples say that Bhagirath worship here for Ganga. At Gangotri there is a temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga and the sacred stone where Raja Bhagirath is believed to have worshipped Lord Shiva. The Gomukh glassier is 14 km. for away from the Gangotri. The temple of Gangotri is 300 year old approximately, and it renewedin 20th century. The height of the temple is 20feet. The structure of the temple was made by the white granite. In the winter the worship of this temple stopped and the worship held in village Mukhimat. In the Mukhimat temple has a natural rock of Shivlinga. Many people says that here the lord Shiva receive the holy Ganga in his locks.
The important palce you can see there that is Gangotri Temple, Gomukh glacier, Kedar Taal, Submerged Shivalinga, surya kunda, Vasuki Tal, Kalindikhal, Nandanvan.
You can choose the season of summer for the tour to gangotri. Summer season is the best season is the best season for your tour. The nearest airport for the Gangotri is Jolly Grant which is 26 km. long from Rishikesh. The nearest railway station is Rishikesh. If you want to travel by road firstly you go to Uttarkashi, then tehri Garhwal. It is 250 km. from the Rishikesh and 105 km. from the Uttarkashi.
